Voting Information

Surrey Students NOW's message is simple: VOTE.

Need a ride? We'll get you to the voting booth.

Submit

In the 2018 Municipal Election, eligible voters will cast their ballot to elect one (1) Mayor, eight (8) Councillors and six (6) School Trustees for School District No. 36 (Surrey).

IMPORTANT TIP: You do not have to vote for every seat. Only vote for those you want to see elected.

Elected Officials make decisions that direct the City of Surrey and Surrey School District. These decisions affect your everyday life. Whether you are a new or returning City of Surrey voter, you will find information needed for the 2018 Municipal Election here.

Election Day: Saturday, October 20, 8:00am to 8:00pm at any one of the 57 Voting Locations.

Enhance Your Voter Experience

To ensure you are ready to cast your ballot, please familiarise yourself with the following steps:

Before you Vote:
  1. Read the Candidate Profiles to learn who is running for Office. These profiles will be available in late September or, refer to your Voter Guide, being delivered in late September or early October to every household in Surrey.
  2. If you are registered, a Voter Card package will be mailed to your household in late September or early October. Please review it carefully. Detach and bring the Voter Card with your name listed, as it will increase the speed of voting and enhance your voting experience.
  3. Find voting locations that are convenient for you or visit one of our Advance Voting Opportunities.
  4. If you are a new or unregistered voter, or are updating your personal information on your Voter Card, you can:
  5. Bring two pieces of acceptable identification that provide evidence of your identity and place of residence (one item must contain the voter’s signature) with you to register and vote.

When you arrive to Vote:
  1. You will be greeted as you enter the voting location, directed to the first available Election Official to show your Voter Card and/or two (2) pieces of acceptable identification, and asked to sign the voting book declaration to receive your ballot.
  2. Continue to the voting booth where you will have privacy to mark your ballot.
  3. Finally, proceed to the voting machine where you will feed in your ballot and receive your “I Voted” sticker from the Election Official.

Accessible Voting
City of Surrey is committed to providing accessible voting.
